MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Review

News Reviews

Are you ready to experience the thrill of piloting giant mechs while also managing your own mercenary business? MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, a BattleTech mecha game developed by Piranha Games and released on December 10, 2019, offers an exciting mix of action and adventure gameplay that keeps you engaged throughout.

Managing Your Mercenary Business

In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, you play as a pilot of a giant mech, completing objectives on various battlefields. The story missions are particularly enjoyable, featuring voice acting and interesting commentary. The mechanics of the mechs are straightforward and easy to understand. But what makes the game more interesting is the business management aspect – managing repairs, storage costs, and buying new weapons can be just as challenging as playing the game itself.

The main quest of the game is to seek revenge for your father’s killer. It may seem like a basic storyline, but it feels real and engaging, taking almost 20 years in the game to complete. To make the final fight more dramatic, I brought a heavy-focused melee build to the final battle.

The graphics and sound of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries are impressive. The music is particularly heavy and gets you in the mood to get in your mech and go to town on some enemies.

Mech Combat Mechanics

The difficulty level of the game can go from simple to downright hellish very quickly. The game pushes you as a player into heavier mechs quickly, so it’s important to take your time and stay around industry hubs waiting for a hero mech to appear.

One of the best things about MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is that it’s highly replayable. With DLC, mods, and the ability to pick different factions for a new playthrough, you can enjoy Mech on Mech carnage in various ways. You can even try to speedrun getting revenge for your dad’s murder.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations

In my opinion, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is an amazing game that consumed my every thought. I enjoyed the story, and streaming it was fun. I loved collecting the hero mechs, and co-op play with my friend was a blast. While there are some minor problems with the game, mods can fix most of them. I strongly recommend MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries to any gamer who loves mechs and wants to try their hand at managing a mercenary business.

If you want to see me play MechWarrior live, check out my Twitch and YouTube channels. I stream my gameplay sessions with commentary. You can also play the game on the Mobile Gaming Unit, a high-tech gaming truck with MechWarrior among its collection of games.
